FEMA has posted some updated HAZUS related news items at:
http://www.fema.gov/hazus/hz_new.shtm
-- As the first in a series of articles profiling successful
implementation strategies, the partnership in Indiana between the State
Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the Polis Center at Indiana
University is highlighted.
-- Another article reports on the Private Sector Initiative, and our own
Roddy Seekins and Craig Eissler of the Texas Geographic Society are near
the top of the list of Authorized HAZUS Trainers.

-- The HAZUS Annual Report for 2004 is now available, and includes a
concise summary of future development plans.
-- For those interested in coastal issues, the article on the use of
HAZUS in hurricane response operations for Ivan last year not only
summarizes the variety of ways the model results were used, but also
includes HAZUS Lessons Learned from the 2004 hurricane season, including
recommendations for prioritizing enhanced inventory data and future
validation studies. The article also reports that "With respect to
shelters, validation studies found a strong correlation between HAZUS-MH
estimated shelter requirements and actual shelter requirements, as
reported by the American Red Cross."
