FEMA is sponsoring an initiative to identify and profile recent HAZUS-MH
products, including maps that were generated during the 2004 hurricane
season in support of impact assessment and response operations.

The templates contain useful information on each of the HAZUS-MH maps,
including:

     * Data and Analysis Displayed (data layers, sources of data,
definitions);
     * Potential Uses of Analysis: Pre-Disaster
     * Potential Uses of Analysis: Post-Disaster

The HAZUS-MH map templates serve many purposes. HAZUS User Groups
(HUGS) can use the maps for public awareness and outreach. Emergency
managers can use the maps to show the application of HAZUS-MH to support
rapid impact assessment and disaster response for earthquake, hurricane
and flood emergencies.

A sample of the HAZUS-MH maps are on display at the ESRI International
User Conference 2005 this week. To access the online versions, go to:
http://www.fema.gov/hazus/hz_map_series.shtm

Several examples of hurricane and flood maps are provided, including
"Population Potentially Exposed to Dam Failure in Austin, Texas"
