Introduction to ArcGIS for ArcView GIS and ArcInfo (I) (Vsn 9.x)
This two-day course provides a fundamental introduction to ArcGIS.
Participants learn how to use the graphical user interface (GUI) of the
three main ArcGIS applications-ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox.
Since the course focuses on ArcMap, ArcCatalog, and ArcToolbox, it is
equally applicable to both ArcView GIS and ArcInfo users. The course teaches
basic ArcGIS functionality and GIS concepts so participants can
quickly take advantage of the software's powerful display and analysis
capabilities.
DATES:
June 27-28, 2005 (Indianapolis)
August 25-26, 2005 (Indianapolis)
October 24-25, 2005 (Indianapolis)
November 3-4, 2005 (IvyTech South Bend)
December 12-13, 2005 (Indianapolis)
Introduction to ArcGIS for ArcView GIS and ArcInfo (II) (Vsn 9.x)
Extend what you learned in Introduction to ArcGIS I with further
exploration of ArcMap and ArcCatalog. This 3- day course focuses on
spatial analysis, automation of spatial and attribute data, editing,
and advanced options for cartographic display. A portion of the class
is reserved for carrying out an analysis project and applying many of
the new skills and techniques learned in this course. Participants
conduct queries, perform spatial analysis, and present their results in a
hard-copy map.
DATES:
June 1-3, 2005 (IvyTech South Bend)
August 15-17, 2005 (Indianapolis)
September 7-9, 2005 (IvyTech South Bend)
October 26-28, 2005 (Indianapolis)
November 9-11, 2005 (IvyTech South Bend)
December 14-16, 2005 (Indianapolis)
Introduction to ArcIMS
This 2-day course is designed for those who are new to internet mapping
and wish to use ESRI ArcIMSR software to serve their own maps on the
internet.
It provides students with a comprehensive introduction to ArcIMS: from
the details of how the technology works, to the practical steps
required to create your first ArcIMS website. Throughout the course,
students will learn all of the essential skills needed to work with the
software, from installing ArcIMS (and all of its required components),
to authoring, administering, and serving maps on the internet.
DATES:
September 1-2, 2005 (Indianapolis)
Introduction to Programming ArcObjects with VBA
In this five-day course students learn the fundamentals of VBA
application development, Object-oriented programming concepts, and the
specifics of working with ArcObjects. Participants learn to use VBA
development tools including the VB editor, customize dialog box, and online
help resources.
They also learn the syntax for writing simple VB statements, how to
write branching and looping structures, and how to design user forms.
Object-oriented programming concepts are described in detail,
including: the advantages of COM (on which all ArcObjects classes are
based) and interface programming (which may be new even to seasoned
programmers). The majority of class time will be spent doing hands-on
programming exercises in order to gain a working knowledge of these
concepts and to become familiar the most commonly used ArcObjects
classes (Map, Layer, Table, etc.). The class has been updated for
ArcGIS 9.0, and since ArcGIS Desktop software programs (ArcView,
ArcEditor, and ArcInfo) share the same architecture, the knowledge
gained in this course applies to all three. Upon finishing the course,
students will have plenty of sample code from which they can build their own
applications.
